Em outubro de 1717, três pescadores desceram o rio Paraíba do Sul atrás de peixe para o banquete de um governador e não pegaram nada. A rede trouxe o corpo de uma pequena imagem de barro de Nossa Senhora; mais abaixo, a cabeça. Dali em diante, o peixe foi tanto que voltaram para casa admirados. Aparecida não é uma aparição: ninguém viu Nossa Senhora — três homens acharam uma imagem, e três séculos depois ela é a Rainha e Padroeira do Brasil. Causa Nostrae Laetitiae — “Causa da nossa alegria”, da Ladainha de Loreto — é irmão de Stella Matutina, Mater Divinae Gratiae, Rosa Mystica, Salus Infirmorum e Regina Angelorum. In October 1717 three fishermen went down the Paraíba do Sul river to find fish for a governor’s banquet, and caught nothing. Their net brought up the body of a small clay statue of Our Lady; further down, the head. From then on the catch was so plentiful that they went home amazed. Aparecida is not an apparition: nobody saw Our Lady — three men found a statue, and three centuries later she is the Queen and Patroness of Brazil. Causa Nostrae Laetitiae — “Cause of our Joy”, from the Litany of Loreto — is a companion to Stella Matutina, Mater Divinae Gratiae, Rosa Mystica, Salus Infirmorum and Regina Angelorum.
